Meet the do good chocolate bar that tastes good and does good! Made in the Virunga National Park, the oldest in Africa, the Femmes de Virunga project was launched in 2016. The first ever female-led cacao cooperative in the world, and in one of the most dangerous places to be a woman, the Femmes de Virunga project sought to make chocolate production a positive, educational space for women. Enabling them to provide for and support their families, the project teaches these women a valuable trade. Since the project started in 2016 more than a quarter of a million cacao trees have been planted and there are over 1500 women farmers in the cooperative. These beans are then used in Chocolarder's Falmouth based factory to create the Femme Virunga bar.
